Consumer Ratings Now a Part of Bing Results

Following Google’s lead, Bing is now providing consumer ratings within text ads. Partnering with the review service Viewpoints, Bing’s service is called Consumer Ratings Annotations. It premiered in October and is being tested in the US and Canada.

Consumer ratings are pulled from the Viewpoints survey program. Consumer ratings are tallied for features including:

  • Customer service
  • Returns
  • Pricing
  • Selection

The ratings are on a 5 star scale and show the number of reviews documented. Consumers can click on the link for the number of reviews to view more detailed information including the full review and the original location of the online review.

In addition to the new consumer ratings, Bing is also including the count of Twitter followers for the brand. The Twitter follower count is shown alongside the Consumer Ratings Annotations. While consumers can see the number of followers, there is no link to the brand’s Twitter account.
